Always quick to complain, less to compliment. Given the positive reviews, thought I'd jump on the band wagon too. Ordered a seafood soup and a beef w/ rice dish. Both were lovely and a decent sized portion.
Reasonably priced, good quality, delivery on time. I'll be ordering from here again.

The food is not 100% authentic but very good still. Rice portion is huge. I decided to come back here the second time after trying other Viet places.

I have never had Vietnamese food except for the sandwich and I love the sandwiches they make the best ever but as far as the rolls and other dishes here that are rated highly I just did not like them. I do not know if it because I do not like Vietnamese food or if it was how it was cooked. I presume it is my own personal taste which is why I gave it 3 stars.

95. Salmon Fish Cooked in a Clay Pot with Caramel Sauce (Ca Kho To)
The amount of salmon is literally the size of my fist in a little pint of sauce. For $14, I honestly think this is not worth it in terms of size and taste. It doesn't even come with any rice or noodles. I thought there was a mistake so I called the restaurant. The person who picked up already guessed that I was going to ask about the size of this item. He explained that salmon alone costs $10/lb and that little pint is almost a pound.

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the city! The food is outstanding!!! My favorite dishes are the shrimp summer rolls, spring rolls, BBQ pork noodle bowl, and the beef noodle bowl. So much flavor and so fresh! Quick, friendly delivery.

Took forever for my food to arrive and when it got here, most of the broth from my soup spilled. The delivery guy must have dropped the bag.

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant closed a few years ago after20years. I've been searching for one I like as much ever since ,and this is it. Ordered twice now, and have been very happy. The only complaint I might have is their summer rolls aren't quite up to snuff. But they're still pretty good

I was interested in trying Vietnamese cuisine, so I picked out Xe Lua to be my first attempt. I ordered the "House Special Rice Noodle Soup", "Spring Rolls", and "Summer Rolls with Shredded Pork". Everything was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and was at a good temperature upon arrival. The soup was a large container and had a good flavor to it. The only complaint I have is that it was made with tripe. It wasn't a big problem, as you can just not eat it, but I dislike tripe very much. The spring rolls were good, but very light. But, the Summer Rolls were fantastic. I definitely recommend getting them. The only other issue I had was there were a handful of vegetables and sauces and such and I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what veg/sauce goes with which dish. It just would have been nice to know. Overall, if Xe Lua's food is indicative of Vietnamese food, it's nothing to rave about so far, but it certainly wasn't bad. If the mood for Vietnamese cuisine strikes me again, I would order from Xe Lua, but also wouldn't hesitate to try another place in comparison.

Soup was good but it took 85 mins. I waited up to 70 mins because that was the suggested waiting time, although 70 mins for Asian food is way toooooo long. But 85? Come on...Also the noodle wasn't good. Everything got stuck together even after I put the noodle into the soup. The soup wasn't warm enough.

As someone who's eaten at some of the reported best Vietnamese restaurants in the area, Xe Lua is one of them. And for Delivery (fast, still hot, good portions, consistency) it is the best choice for classic Vietnamese food. Will order again whenever I want some great Pho.

Posted 3 years ago by Lai Kwan W.
the real deal. I quite enjoy putting together my own summer rolls! and the veggie spring rolls with mint and lettuce are my favorite! Their food is done perfectly, the hollow vegetables not overcooked (still GREEN like they should be, not grey and overcooked!) and deliciously garlicky.
Posted 3 years ago by Carol T.
The house special pho is a favorite of my coworkers and I on a cold day. The bun w/ pork chop & spring rolls on top is another favorite of mine, along with the shrimp summer rolls. I've eaten there several times before and loved it, so I am happy they are on seamless when I can't make it over there. Best time to order for lunch is right before noon to assure a quicker delivery.
Posted 3 years ago by Amie H.
Was delivered extremely quickly, which was a plus. The lettuce that came with my meal was unwashed (actual clumps of visible dirt on the leaves), and there was grit in some of the food. Very disappointed as everything smelled amazing.
Posted 3 years ago by Megan K.
Consistently the best delivery in lower Manhattan. UNTIL they sent the wrong order and then sent replacement veggie fried rice that had pieces of pork in it.

I've never written a Seamless review before, but I felt compelled to put in a good word for these guys. Me and my girlfriend absolutely love this place. Speed of delivery, food quality, service, and consistency are incredible. Plus, the manager is a super nice guy.
Posted 3 years ago by Chris R.
The most authentic vietnamese restaurant I have found so far (since the days of Cyclo on first avenue). The nuoc mam sauce for one thing (the one that you dip Cha Gios in), is like it should be, and that 's rare nowadays. If you like Pho, try the Pho Tai. It's plentiful and very good. My only complaint is with the lettuce to wrap Cha Gios in, it's not always good looking.
Note: we only get delivery, we never go there.

LOVE Xe Lau. Consistently good and the same, very nice and fresh Vietnamese at great prices.
Posted 3 years ago by manda y.
I continue to order from this place on a regular basis. Their pho is very good and the mi ga curry with egg noodles is fantastic. I crave it. I wish they would add broccoli to it like they do with the pho, and I'm not fond of the pieces of chicken that are on the bone that it comes with (I'd prefer chicken that comes with the pho) but the flavor is fantastic. Summer and spring roles are good too. Typically a fast delivery. Reliably good.
Posted 3 years ago by Zoe D.
Ordered #35 (Pork, steamed egg, shredded pork & rice). Usually with two pieces of pork, today it came with one sad piece, here: http://i.imgur.com/LTHV1Yg.jpg sliced in half (clever?). Called to complain, they tried to justify the smaller portion since it comes with extras (egg and shredded pork). Ignoring that I've had it several times before, and that it costs more than the other pork rice dishes, I'd prefer they'd just admit to reducing portion size. I'd dislike that, but understand. This place used to stand out for customer service, now it's just like any other cheap place, except not really cheap in price.

order beef cubes on rice. 10-15% of the ricebox was beef, didnt even have sauce on the cubes. DO NOT TRY!

I usually tip this place a lot more because I LOVE this place so much. The delivery man is this really nice cute older Asian man he's awesome! Ive never had any complains every thing on the menu is delicious and its always on time. I can safely say that I would be willing to randomly pick any entree in their menu and bet my money that I would like it. Order from this place, its the best!

Delicious bite food at true Chinatown prices. I love this place and order it almost every week. The pho soup is excellent and their spring rolls are totally addictive! Highly recommend!! I'm still exploring the rest of the menu but so far I have nothing but great things to say. Delivery is also super quick so make sure you're home to receive the food!

great vietnamese food! they deliver quickly, and the portions are generous. the only thing is that entrees don't come with rice, which is rare for asian food. but i love their stuff so much that i'm willing to spring for the $3 organic brown rice.

Delicious vietnamese - won out over my fave v-nam a couple times. Fantastic soups but if you're not into tripe be wary of the house dishes. The cat got really lucky those nights. Just pick ones with the specific meat listed.

Food has great flavor with high quality ingredients. Fast delivery for us (near WTC). All my interactions with their staff have been very friendly as well - that's a pretty rare commodity in this area. They even called us up to help us pick a better dish based on a request my colleague put into the text box. He was very happy with the suggested dish. Highly recommended!

Superb! And a great value. We had the house pho, spring rolls, caramel chicken and chicken curry (#76). Took a flyer on the caramel chicken, since it didn't have a description. It was good, sort of a sesame chicken with a sweet glaze. The pho and spring rolls are musts. The curry chicken was the only one we wouldn't order again--it was fine but if you're in the mood for a curry stick to an indian place. Delivery time was fantastic--20 minutes and we're in the far west village, almost to the Hudson River

If you like Vietnamese food, this is the real deal. Absolutely delicious. I love the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. BBQ Chicken Pho also delicious. They have always delivered pretty quickly, too, even though we are over at Houston and Varick. High minimum order but I always order with someone else at work so that's not a problem.

I would never have imagined that I could describe a spicy chicken curry as tasteless, however this is what this dish was from Ze Lua restaurant.
We've also ordered Summer Rolls and Soup which were bland as well.
On top of the very bad food they've also forgot to deliver the drinks that we've ordered.
I will not order from this place again.

They delivered a partially wrong order and the food had absolutely no flavor; completely bland.
Posted 4 years ago by Ashley A.
...but delivery took forever--almost an hour?!!
Posted 4 years ago by Harry A.
Always prompt delivery.
I think they have the best pho broth.
The classic beef broth is so flavorful and richer than other places. Highly recommend the house special pho, BBQ chicken pho, and veggie pho. Also love the nutty broken rice they have! Wish their spring rolls were better, it's not bad just lackluster compared to their pho.

I ordered from Xe Lua three days in a row -- I don't think I've ever done that before. Their Pho is the best I've tasted in NYC.
Posted 4 years ago by Michael H.
Fine at most.
Though my Vietnamese background does spoil my judgment.
21. House Special Rice Noodle Soup (Pho Xe Lura):
Broth was fine. Clean, but not too flavorful. Toppings were a tad skimpy. But it's New York City, I guess..
35. BBQ Pork Chop, Special Steamed Egg Cake, Shredded Pork & Broken Rice (Com Suron Bi Cha)
Solved my craving, but nothing to rave about. Egg cake was flavorful.
6. Summer Rolls with Grilled Pork (Nem Nuong Cuon)
Nothing out of the ordinary here. Just the usual lettuce and rice noodles. The nem nuong was quite plain. I'd pass on this next time.
Posted 4 years ago by Ky L.
we order from here at least twice per week. the pho and the curry beef cubes with broken rice is amazing! their bubble tea (japanese green tea) is great too (perfect fill-in to meet min delivery). =)

good quality food, but very expensive for what we got vs. paid. There are many other vietnamese places that give you MUCH better value for money. Would not order from here again.

First time ordering from this restaurant, and for a group of 8 people. Our food was delivered in the time frame indicated, and not a single order was incorrect. Also, each takeout container was conveniently numbered, eliminating the guesswork between dishes. Everyone was pleased with their food as well.

Some of the best and most authentic Vietnamese that delivers. The food is fresh, flavorful, hot and moderately priced. I PRE-ordered at noon and our food showed up right on time at 6:45pm. Great service!

Oh, thank you Xe Lua! This was the best Seamless meal I have had since coming to New York a year ago. Their Beef Pho (medium rare) was perfect, very aromatic, delicious broth, tender beef slices, and the broth was delivered hot enough so that the beef actually cooked from rare to medium. They also provide ample amounts of lime, sprouts and sauce, unlike some other places.
And, they were ridiculously fast. Fifteen minutes after we ordered, the delivery guy was already there. This despite the fact that Seamless had indicated a shocking delivery time of 55-70 minutes in the confirmation e-mail. What is up with that? Anyway, I am sure I will reorder from here plenty of times!
Posted 4 years ago by Anne L.
Food was delicious and hot, and delivery was fast...even to Battery Park City. I would definitely order again.

Tofu clay pot was delicious. Veitnamese coffee was nothing special.

I ordered on seamless, and then they called to say that they didn't have anything that i ordered. They then said that they would cancel the order on seamless, but i had to call seamless and actually cancel it myself.
Beware when ordering from this place. The service tends to be sloppy and rude.

Very tasty! I wish they delivered to my office. I love simple marinated, grilled beef with herbs and vegetables to wrap it up in, and this place does it very well. The hot and sour soup had dozens of different fungi and root vegetables I couldn't identify, but which were amazing. A little pricey, but definitely worth it.

Good Vietnamese. BBQ Pork Shop rice vermicelli is good.
Posted 4 years ago by Nicolas N.
Overall, a disappointment. I will never order the pan fried noodles with beef again The sauce was not good at all-quite bland, though the beef and noodles were perfectly cooked. Meanwhile, the beef fried rice was great, the longan iced tea is a must-have, and the salt + pepper shrimp was perfectly seasoned (just a tad overcooked). Perhaps it was our fault, but the spring rolls unexpectedly had pork, which meant they were tossed to the trash, we don't eat pork. Oh well. We will stick to our usual Vietnamese restaurant.
Posted 4 years ago by Kam S.
Delivery takes forever, but the food is really good. I love #25 (pho with well done beef strips) and #2 (spring rolls). The rice plates are mostly decent, although portion seems to vary (sometimes mostly consisting of rice). Overall, never disappointing.

I've been ordering from Xe Lua for a while now and it's been consistently good. They've always been quick and the one time they forgot my drink order they re-sent the delivery guy right away and was very apologetic about it. Today when I ordered they called me to let me know that my order had been dispatched and that it'll arrive in less than 5 mins. Solid and reliable place.

pho broth is pretty good. great for hangovers. the rare beef tends to be chewy, especially when it gets cooked in the hot broth. crispy squid is sometimes too fishy and seems a little expensive for how much you get.
Posted 5 years ago by thomas m.
Don't know where the high rating comes from. The papaya salad tastes nothing like it should and papaya is not ripe. Fresh rolls are full of lettuce and not much else.
Posted 5 years ago by Irena C.
the pho broth is pretty good, especially when you're hung over the next day, but the beef isn't the best quality and can be rubbery. also, lately, i feel like the portions are getting skimpier. the delivery is pretty fast, even from chinatown to battery park.

Pretty good Vietnamese delivery. Had the Bun Xe Lua which was good, but my enjoyment was overshadowed by the realization that Viet Cafe around the corner does the same dish with much more refinement for about a buck more.. First time having salted lemonade- Wasn't crazy about it. Everything showed up promptly on a rainy midday, smack in the middle of a work week. Bravo.

my favorite Pho broth in all of NYC. they use anise and never skimp on the veggies (ie. bean sprouts, lime, jalepeno--- note, other resto's don't include that, basil and a few other extras). the other stuff like Bun (vermicelli bowls) aren't amazing... but it's still worth ordering!

I recently moved downtown and have been looking for some fresh takeout food options. I've been disappointed so far until now!
The food from here was very fresh and tasty (and surprisingly affordable given the quality!). The Pho comes with separate containers for broth, cooked items, and fresh items (mung bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno, lime), which is very smart. The summer rolls themselves were just right, except they could use a more fresh/flavorful dipping sauce, then they would be amazing (hint for the restaurant).
I'm giving it 5 stars because this is by far the best take-out option I've found in the neighborhood so far. (But if I find better, this would probably become a 4-4.5).

Posted 5 years ago by Madison B.
This restaurant is a little inconsistent and they recently raised prices. However, lately, the food has gotten a lot better than when I first ordered. I usually order the well done beef pho and noticed that the pho broth is a lot better than before - much more authentic than Pho Viet Huong. I also liked the Rainbow Iced Cold Drink and the spring rolls were quite interesting. Sometimes, I actually get a craving for their beef pho, which means that they're doing quite a good job.

This is my favorite vietnamese restaurant in nyc, it only took them 15 minutes to deliver and the quality is always wonderful!

Great portions and prices, haven't gotten my order wrong, prompt delivery (given their distance away from my office), and the phos and buns and spring/summer rolls I've had are all very tasty. Love this place!

Pretty good Pho. Needs to come with more cilantro, sprouts, basil, jalapenos, etc.
Maybe try offering medium beef with rare as well.

The grilled pork summer roll was delicious, and the bun was so much I couldn't finish! I wish they offered bun cha, but Xe Lua is definitely a good choice

Super fast delivery, fresh. delicious.

Terrible. Took almost 2 hours for my food to arrive.

Just ok.....portions were good but definitely had better noodle soups. Beef cubes and pork chops were good. The other mains could use more work.

They're normally great (and the summer rolls were tasty), but tonight they delivered me a large chicken with chili lemongrass sauce dish with no accompanying rice... disappointing and impractical.

Pretty Good food, specially the Pork chop over rice, or beef over rice, best dishes! I tried the Chicken Curry but wasnt too thrilled ,it was just greasy curry.

Decent food, but portions are small compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, especially when considering the price.

amazing! the ONLY real vietnamese restaurant in new york!

Really good Pho. Beef comes uncooked (that's a good thing), broth is steaming hot, plenty of bean spouts and extras, Viet Iced Coffee is boss and the delivery is reasonably quick. Order from this place if you like Pho

Please have the delivery man deliver the food to destination and then call. We do not want to spend time waiting at the lobby for the delivery man to come.

Close to my own mom's cooking

The raised their delivery charge above my expense account allowance, sadly I will not be able to order from here any longer. Food is good.

Beef cube on fried rice was excellent, will order again.

The pho is excellent and I love that they bring extra hot sauce. The green papaya salad is a little bland - too much lemon juice and not enough fish sauce in the dressing and cut a little too finely (more than most places). Very prompt delivery but sometimes they forget things...

spring rolls were cooked in a bitter oil, which means it was old and is not being changed often enough. The rest was good.

The chicken curry is So good as are the summer spring rolls. Fast and efficient service too!

The pork and the shrimp vermicelli noodle bowls are yum. The flavour of the pork and shrimp is delicious. Speedy delivery. Highly recommended if you are looking for a good vietnamese place

Solid pho and springrolls. Great bun dishes also.

Got the wrong order. When I called them about it, the manager promptly apologized and sent out the right order and told us to keep the first one as well. To top it off, the food was really tasty.
Delicious food, great service, very satisfied.

Service was a little off. No confirmation email, so I had to call the restaurant, obviating the best part about Seamless Web (in other words, could have just called and ordered directly). Delivery person had wrong address, called and was very courteous but lost. Food was extremely bland and watery. Would not order from this place again.

Love ordering from here. The best Nuoc Cham (Vinegar Fish Sauce) I've tried in the city. I'm from the south so I like my Nuoc Cham sweeter, but this still has a good punch. Always quick and efficient.

To be fair, the food I ordered was tasty, not amazing but good, typical Vietnamese - but charging $10-12 bucks for dishes and not including rice? Shame on you! $2 extra for rice when almost every other similar restaurant in NYC includes rice with the dishes... At least let people know ahead of time, it's the least you can do if you're going charge extra for rice, and the size of the portions are small. I know the economy is not good but rice is inexpensive, make your customers happy and include it!

Tom Yum Soup with vegetables was absolutely awful. The rest of the food I ordered was ok.

My order and co-workers came with no utensil and no fish source for the side order

It was satisfying. Food delivered quick, and hot. Had the strawberry smoothie as well, which was delicious.

The food is not bad.

Absolutely horrible. Chicken was completely raw, shrimp were not deveined, and we waited over an hour for delivery.

They promised 40 minutes and delivered in 10! Almost as good as eating there.
